Rafaele Appleby is the great grand-daughter of William Nicholson and Mabel Pryde, and paints in her studio on Hadrians Wall. She will discuss their artistic legacy that has passed down since then through the generations of the Nicholson family. Rafaele and her daughter, Ophelia, both exhibited at The Grange some years ago, and this was the stimulus to research her family in more detail, resulting in a recent exhibition at The Crane-Kalman Gallery in London. Her talk will illustrate this with many colourful examples of works in several media by Nancy, Winifred, Sarah, Kate amongst others.
